The launch of smartphones with the capacity for e-commerce created a new channel for Internet merchants to address mobile commerce
Istanbul - 12.10.12 - Electronic commerce, which covers a range of different types of businesses, from consumer-based retail sites to trading goods and services between corporations is currently one of the hottest topics in the online landscape. It expanded rapidly over the past five years and is predicted to continue at this rate or even accelerate, especially in developing economies which provide huge market opportunities for smart eCommerce solutions.
B2B businesses often deal with hundreds or even thousands of other businesses, either as customers or suppliers. Carrying out these transactions electronically lets them acquire a vast competitive advantage over traditional methods. The dedicated eCommerce Conference, held on the second day of Webit Congress 2012, attracted great attention, particularly from those who look for a way of building their own business. The eCommerce conference offered tips on the future of retail, e-commerce, affiliate marketing, mobile marketing and measurement methods. The indispensable advices given by the lecturers included SEO practices and important insights such as how social media and technology are influencing eCommerce dynamics, how we make decisions to buy, how and from where we buy. In addition, several case studies showed marketing professionals how to single out their brand from the competition.
Starting with the opening speech of Kıvanç Onan, Country Manager of Paypal Turkey, focusing on mCommerce practices which is becoming more widespread day by day, the conference continued with the talk of Thomas Labarthe, Vice President of Mobile Advertising at Alcatel – Lucent. In his keynote, titled “Extending into New Business Opportunities with Mobile Commerce” he emphasized the fact that merchants and brands have the opportunity to get 360 degree full marketing view of consumers, users gain more convinent and personalized shopping experiences while Mobile Operators capture new revenue opportunities as they increase their contribution in the value chain. Social media applications which have an important place in the future of consumer retail were discussed by Renate Nyborg, Digital Director and Head of Mobile at Edelman. Emphasizing the importance of social media in the new marketing approach, Renate Nyborg said: “Don’t think about mobile as handsets apps or systems think about the situations in which people use technology on the move.”
