Yorgos Ioannidis is a distinguished manager in the telecommunications industry in the Balkans. He was born and raised up in Istanbul, Turkey. He studied Electrical Engineering and got his B.Sc. from Bosphorus University, Istanbul Turkey and his M.Sc. from Lowell Technological Institute, Lowell, Mass., U.S.A. [today known as University of Massachussetts at Lowell]. He speaks fluently Greek, Turkish, English and moderate French and basic Romanian. He is married and he is father of three kids.
He is currently Chairman of Board of Directors at Azerfon and AzerTelecom, as well as Board member of Azerconnect (A Joint Venture Company for Network Sharing established by Azerfon and Bakcell). He is also Board Member of Sofmedica in Romania.

During his career Yorgos Ioannidis participated to the Boards of Directors of different OTE Group companies such as Romtelecom SA and COSMOTE Romania (June 2007-2011), COSMOTE GREECE (June 2000-June 2011), INFOTE (Chairman 2000 -2006), cosmoONE (Chairman 2001-2005), VoiceNET (Chairman 2002 – 2007), OTE-ACADEMY etc. He was also Board member of Totalsoft Romania from July 20011 to July 2012.
He has also participated to the Boards of non-profit organizations such as United Way Romania and Athens University of Economics and Business MBA International’s Board Advisory Council.
He enjoys sports and in particular running, swimming and biking. (he participates to different triathlon races).
Yorgos Ioannidis has been awarded “Best CEO 2010” by the magazine Communicatii Mobile of Romania while he was CEO of Romrtelecom and “Manager of the Year 2002” by the Greek Mobile Awards while he was CEO of OTENET.
