Michael O’Connor is CEO of CorkBIC, specialising in high technology or innovative investment projects usually involving international growth. Started in marine and arctic exploration before moving to high growth manufacturing and sales start-ups, like Raychem Corporation out of Menlo Park, CA. Co-founded Intepro Systems out of Limerick, a venture capital backed IT start-up globalising from Ireland. Responsible for strategy and sales and marketing in the European start-up and led the US market entry building a team based out of Boston & San Diego with several rounds of international venture capital before a successful trade exit. Since returning from the USA he has created many new initiatives from Ireland and has advised over 300 start-ups.
Michael and his team at CorkBIC have an enviable track record of selecting and guiding successful start-ups over many years that have achieved successful exits.He graduated from Cambridge University in Engineering and the London Business School and the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania with an MBA specialising in strategy and international finance. Created and runs a regional HBAN business angel network that has completed 80 deals investing over €40m in primarily start-ups. Co-founded and also runs world class accelerators.
Board member of several private and public companies over 30 years including EBAN and Co-Chairs the EBAN E-Xcelerator linking accelerators with angel funds. Interests include governance and building effective Boards. International judge and umpire in the sailing world for major events.
